Creative Brief

To mark the release of the final Aston Martin DBS model, Superunion and Curious Productions partnered with Little Shadow to create a short, high-impact launch film that visually embodied the car’s identity: speed, ferocity, and power at its peak. The brief called for a bold, all-CG execution that would celebrate the DBS as an icon in motion, sophisticated, aggressive, and unapologetically fast.

Our Approach

We developed a full 3D animation pipeline using Cinema 4D and Redshift to build the entire environment and vehicle in CGI. The visual narrative was tightly choreographed around movement, rapid cuts, dynamic camera paths, and shifting environmental light to convey tension and velocity.

The film begins with abstract surface detail and muscular linework, teasing the form of the DBS before a dramatic reveal. We used stylised motion blur and lens flares to accentuate velocity, while particle FX and distortion layers added intensity to scenes of acceleration.

A dark, high-contrast grade with piercing metallic highlights reinforced the sense of precision engineering and performance dominance. The pacing mimicked a revving engine, starting slow, building pressure, and unleashing power in a visceral climax.

The Results

The film served as a digital centrepiece for the Aston Martin DBS finale launch, used in social campaigns, dealership displays, and internal showcases. It communicated the car’s story in pure visual language, honouring the legacy of a performance icon through design and motion.
