Back2back Productions approached Little Shadow to refresh the visual identity of Killers Caught on Camera– a returning true crime series on ITVX. With stories spanning the UK and US, the team needed a new title sequence and graphics style that would add consistency and clarity across episodes. The design had to feel contemporary, supporting the tone of the series while helping viewers understand complex timelines and geographies of each of the stories.

Our Approach

We began by reworking the show’s title sequence, creating a flexible identity that blended glitch-style textures, typography, and a mix of hand-held and location footage from the series.

To anchor each narrative, we designed bespoke animated maps for both the UK and US episodes, giving every case a clear geographic context. These maps were styled to feel factual yet accessible, using a minimal colour palette and dynamic transitions.

Throughout each episode, we also created custom graphics for forensic reconstructions, autopsy overlays and crime scene diagrams. These were built in Blender and After Effects, designed to explain the action without overwhelming it. We worked closely with the edit team to ensure each element was seamlessly integrated into the show’s pacing.

The Results

The graphics gave the series a clearer visual grammar across episodes, enhancing comprehension and production value. The updated title design tied everything together visually, while the maps and reconstructions were singled out for their clarity and distinctive style.
