Creative Brief

FEDS is a high-stakes true-crime series that follows real FBI officers as they recount the takedowns that defined their careers. October Films commissioned Little Shadow to create a bold title sequence and an integrated motion graphics package for the series. The aim: to create a consistent, cinematic visual language that reflected the tension and precision of federal investigations.

Our Approach

We began with the title design, creating a sequence that blends archival textures, redacted typography, and schematic overlays to evoke surveillance, pursuit, and operational secrecy. The animation builds tension through sharp edits and glitch-style transitions, culminating in a bold logo lock-up. We used a monochromatic palette with accents of red and digital green, taking cues from FBI file imagery and tactical UI design. 

In the body of the episodes, we designed graphic elements that supported the narrative structure:

• Case files and suspect IDs 
• Location stamps and timeline markers 
• Animated maps and movement trackers 
• Text overlays drawn from FBI terminology and reports

All assets were designed for consistency and modularity, allowing editors to deploy and adapt them across multiple episodes and varying visual contexts.

The Results

The FEDS branding helped unify a fast-paced, multi-case format while reinforcing the show’s tone: serious, investigative, and anchored in reality. The title sequence and supporting graphics provided narrative clarity while contributing to the show’s visual identity on both Discovery+ and the True Crime Network.
